About Apartment Fax
New York, NY
Apartment Fax helps New York City renters research an apartment and building before signing a lease. Created by Omar Dadabhoy and Hussein Syed, it gathers public records from city agencies and puts them in one clear report.
Why we built it
City records can be hard to find and understand. Apartment Fax brings them together so renters can see documented issues and ask better questions before moving in.
What a report can cover
A report may include violations, 311 complaints, permits, ownership and property registration details, possible eviction history, pest and sanitation records, and rent registration details. Results depend on what public records are available. A building-wide record is not presented as proof about one apartment.
The city agencies that publish each record are the official sources. Records may be incomplete, delayed, changed, or linked to an address in different ways. A complaint is not the same as a confirmed violation.
How the service works
Enter an NYC address and apartment, confirm the location, and buy a full report for $1. No account is needed. We email the report to the address used at checkout. Stripe processes the payment.
What to know
Apartment Fax is a research tool. It is not an inspection, tenant screening, legal advice, or a promise about current conditions. Visit the apartment, read the lease, and verify important details with the cited agency or a qualified professional.
